Driveway Doctor teams up with

The Franchise Alliance.

In January 2007 The Drive Doctor became a member of The Franchise Alliance.

As the name suggests this is an alliance of like minded franchise companies, who all run successful franchise systems in the UK. The ethos of the group is to promote ethical franchising and to introduce people to franchising as a way of starting their own business.

Commenting on this Adam Davison, Managing Director of The Driveway Doctor said “We feel that joining the TFA will allow to us to become a major part of spreading the word about how rewarding running a franchise business can be.”

Continuing he said “The general population in the UK may have only have heard of franchising through reference to ‘MacDonald’s’ or ‘The Body Shop’, however in many homes, on every high street and in most office blocks there are franchise businesses operating.”

The franchise industry in the UK produces a turnover of over £10.3 billion annually. Franchising is not a small business and everyday we may be using a franchise business without knowing it.

The Franchise Alliance holds seminars across the UK, throughout the year. These events offer an opportunity for people looking at starting a business to consider franchising as an option

Franchising can offer people looking at self-employment a greater chance of success than starting a business on their own, but it is a path that many people are not aware is open to them. This is how the seminars have proved to be a fantastic source of information and initial research.

The seminars cover all aspects of franchising: the concept, its history, the advantages and disadvantages, and the six steps to finding the ideal franchise, for more information regarding The Franchise Alliance seminars click here.

                               Driving to Success

With the current boom in domestic service reaching new heights, Andrew Beaston and Dave Ethell owners of Driveway Doctor (North Yorkshire), have capitalised on this growing trend by becoming Regional franchisees responsible for mentoring new franchises and assisting with the development of the whole of Yorkshire.

The Driveway Doctor is the UK’s only nationwide franchise specialising in the restoration of all types of paving and in just a under a year, Andrew and Dave have built the business impressively and added a second vehicle to their fleet to service the increasing demand for their services in their area.

Born in the North East, Andrew has had an extensive career in senior management with an international paint company, whilst Dave, originally from Liverpool, spent 26 years in the Armed Forces. Their desire to control their own destiny led them to meet with Driveway Doctor Managing Director Adam Davison. They were subsequently awarded a franchise to operate in the North York’s area and when the opportunity arose to operate as a Regional franchisee throughout Yorkshire, they were delighted to take on the challenge.

They hope to assist other franchisees to the same levels of success they have achieved.

“We are able to respond quickly to the big demand for our service. The Driveway Doctor has fantastic growth potential, tapping into a previously unexplored service,” said Dave “and we hope to achieve the same levels of success with other franchisees in the Yorkshire area”.

Former Supply Chain Specialist launches Driveway Restoration franchise

A Supply Chain Specialist from East Scotland is expecting business to clean up after setting up an innovative driveway restoration franchise in Ayrshire. Stephen Dalzell has set up as a Driveway Doctor franchisee, which is the UK's only driveway restoration franchise, to operate its professional driveway restoration service throughout East Coast Scotland.

Stephen, 41, took the plunge into driveway restoration having spent 18 years in the IT sector and the last nine months looking after his 3 children. He decided to set up the franchise as he was keen to be his own boss. Stephen's aim is to develop the franchise over the coming months, with a view to eventually hiring support staff as demand picks up and the business develops.

The innovative driveway refurbishment process used by The Driveway Doctor is different because it does not just clean driveways but actually protects them by using a range of specially formulated resin coatings which are available exclusively to the company’s franchisees. After the resin has been applied the coating protects the surface and so increases its life expectancy.

The whole process, which is offered mainly to domestic homes, takes around four hours, but this varies depending on the size and type of driveway, and leaves the surface in immaculate condition.

The Driveway Doctor, which is based in Warrington, Cheshire, was set up in 2002 and started franchising in 2004. The business is a Driveway Restoration service not just a driveway cleaning service and currently has 20 franchisees across the UK.  It has been invited by the British Franchise Association, to apply for its membership status to be upgraded from provisional to associate.

The Driveway Doctor plans to use the East Scotland franchise as a showcase along with its other Scottish franchisees to interest potential future franchisees for other areas in Scotland. People throughout East Scotland who feel that their driveway or patio is in need of more than just a clean can find out more by contacting Stephen through the website - www.drivewaydoctor.info or by ringing 0844 56 11 227.

Stephen said: "I am looking forward to the challenge of this new business. After 18 years working for large Multinationals the time has come to do something for myself. I have been looking to set up my own business for some time and this concept really appealed to me. The potential market for the business is substantial, there are a lot of driveways and patios that need more than just cleaning. "

Adam Davison, Managing Director of The Driveway Doctor said: "We are delighted that Stephen has joined the Driveway Doctor team and is taking on the East Scotland franchise. We are looking to set up franchises to cover other parts of Scotland as we believe the region could be a crucial area for us."

Appointment of First Regional Franchisee

As a pro-active and forward thinking business we are continually looking at ways in which we can improve and develop our business and thus remain at the forefront of what you know to be a competitive market place.

We feel that, to continue improving our support to franchisees, we need to develop a role of Regional Franchisee, who will be able to support you more closely than we could from Head Office, and who can also act as a conduit for ideas and suggestions between all parties.

To that end we have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of David Gill as the first “Regional Franchisee”.

David has worked for over twenty years in Sales & Marketing within the franchised sector at Senior Management level prior to becoming a “Driveway Doctor” Franchisee so we feel that his background, along with his current success as a Driveway Doctor Franchisee, make him ideally qualified for this role of regional franchisee.

As a Regional David will help with recruitment and support of all new and existing franchisees within his territory including the provision of a mentoring service to assist with those day to day issues of running a business, a service he is already providing to the 2 Scottish franchisees Jim and Richie.

Most of you will already know David or at least have spoken with him over the telephone. David, well into his second year of operating a very successful Driveway Doctor Franchise has worked extremely hard to help develop the “Franchisee Forum”.

Over time we hope to appoint other Regional franchisees throughout the UK as we grow and develop the company.

We see this appointment as a significant step in our development and evolution to maintain our position as market leaders in our field, we hope you share our enthusiasm and will wish David every success in his new role.

UK franchise appoints two new franchisees.

Launched in 2004 The Driveway Doctor has quickly grown to become the leader in paving restoration within the UK and has recently awarded two new franchises in North Devon and East Fife.

An ex-army Warrant Officer is one of the two new franchisees welcomed into the Driveway Doctor franchise family.

Since leaving the Army 5 years ago Rick Dale (45) had been a General Manager at a private school in North Devon but with his job future uncertain wanted to take control of his own destiny. He decided upon a Driveway Doctor franchise as he saw an opportunity to develop a thriving business through offering a high quality of service with very little local competition.

He said “Although I looked at a number of other franchises I chose the Driveway Doctor because I was very impressed with the system it operates and I can see huge potential in my area to build a business for my self”

Up in Scotland Jim Cooper (51) is the new owner of the Driveway Doctor franchise servicing East Fife. Jim had been working as a Process Operative in the Chemical Industry for a

number of years.

With 2 grown up children now pursuing their own career Jim decided he wanted to do something for himself. After looking round the Franchise exhibition at the SECC in Glasgow Jim attended a Driveway Doctor seminar with his wife Aileen where he had the opportunity to quiz an existing franchisee.

“Having looked around at other franchises I could see the big potential in building a long term business around my area, doing a job I know I will enjoy with a franchisor that has very similar values and ethics to me, focused around customer care and value for money”

Welcoming both the new franchisees to the network Adam Davison, Co-founder and Managing Director said, “I am delighted Jim and Rick have joined the Driveway Doctor family. With the desire both of them have to succeed I am sure both will make a big contribution to the ever growing network of Driveway Doctor franchisees.”
